Find A Warm Welcome
Located in the small village of Levington, hidden next to St Peter’s church, on a vantage point overlooking the Orwell River, lies the Ship Inn. The Grade 2 listed building dates back as far as the 14th century, had its first license granted in 1712. Originally named The Musket, the pub supposedly had links to infamous smuggler Margaret Catchpole and had a secret cupboard under the eaves for where smugglers could hide their goods. The pubs exterior has colourful hanging baskets and a classic thatched roof. As you enter the building the you are greeted with the beautiful low ceilings and original beams as well as the warmth from the log burner, the restaurant has sailing ships across the walls and the bar has an excellent choice on wines and spirits. The menu is full of locally sourced produce with seasonal delights across the specials.
